The STORMER process
Proposition
Develops productive co-operation amongst a group of people regardless
of their formal business roles, business experience and position
in ‘company hierarchy’.
STORMER can develop a degree of co-operative
input that is normally slow to develop or does not fully develop
at all.
Activity description
An interactive facilitator-led process carried out with team members
over a period of approximately 2 hours. This should be run immediately
preceding a team meeting where a business agenda is to be addressed.
Primary Applications
As a tool to prepare groups who are destined to work
together as a team either for:
- Specific problem solving task/s.
- Developing effectiveness for a long term working group.
Underlying issues addressed
- Hierarchy can suppress innovative input.
- Business teams struggle to think outside the normal business
culture, custom and practice.
- A person’s ‘life experience’ not just ‘work
experience’ can help drive innovation and team spirit
but this is often difficult to ‘exploit’.
Outcomes
- Team cooperation.
- New ideas and new ways to view tasks & challenges.
- Growth in individual self-worth (particularly those with ‘junior’,
formal roles).
- The opportunity to build team effectiveness without the time
needed for natural development by default.
- Quality ideas are valued and developed regardless of the status
or position of the originator. The idea is valued for its own
merit. Unorthodox ideas are neither suppressed nor over-emphasised.
Who will benefit from this level of training or coaching:
- Those who plan to establish new teams or plan to set team
tasks for groups.
- Any task- or objective-focussed group needing to co-operate
